ElementRe Technologies Pvt Ltd is dedicated to enabling circularity in the electric vehicle battery supply chain through recycling

Why Recycle

Recycling Lithium-ion batteries is essential to enabling the electric vehicle ecosystem in a sustainable way

The electric vehicle (EV) industry is growing exponentially and is pushing up demand for batteries alongside. Most of the materials used in producing a new battery are rare and mining these leads to hefty water and energy consumption.

End-of-life (EOL) batteries and battery scrap, if not disposed of safely, add to landfills, release toxic fumes and become a fire hazard.

Recycling responsibly addresses these issues. An efficient recycling process can extract over 90% of critical minerals from dead batteries. These recycled minerals can be reused for new battery production with up to 40% lower carbon and water footprint compared to virgin materials.

Lithium-ion battery recycling is critical for the sustainability of the EV industry and battery material supply chain.

Why Recycle by ElementRe

Our Solutions

ElementRe Technologies Pvt Ltd offers end-to-end lithium-ion battery recycling solutions for the EV ecosystem.

We ensure the collection of used batteries from various sources such as EV manufacturers, dealers and consumers. ElementRe then repurposes the old batteries for secondary applications, such as energy storage, backup power and microgrids. Finally, the company safely recycles the EOL batteries to produce battery-grade cathode materials, such as lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese, that can be reused for making new batteries.

Solutions by ElementRe

Through our fully integrated recycling solution, we aim to reduce the environmental impact, enhance the resource efficiency, and improve the energy security of the EV ecosystem.

Battery grade
materials

Battery grade materials

We produce battery grade materials such as Cobalt, Nickel, Manganese, Lithium, Copper, Aluminium and graphite using EOL batteries, battery scrap and black mass intermediate. Our certified recycled materials are green and can be used for new battery production, closing the EV battery supply chain loop.

Repurposing and recycling

EOL batteries are dismantled for remanufacturing into “second life” batteries or are recycled using our proprietary refining process. Our modular plant and flexible systems can treat a variety of battery chemistries and feedstock.

Collection, logistics and regulatory compliance

Collection, logistics and regulatory compliance

We collect, test and sort used batteries sourced from EVs and electronics. We also utilise manufacturing waste from battery assembly and cell manufacturers and processers.

We help our partners fully comply with their region’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mandates by offering complete transparency during the entire journey.

The ElementRe Story

The rise of electric mobility has brought with it an increase in demand for new batteries while concurrently pushing up the number of batteries coming to their end-of-life. New battery manufacturing plants are being set up to meet this rising demand, which typically generate between 15% to 30% waste cathode material, which can also be recycled. Furthermore, global regulations are pushing for greener materials and processes, and battery manufacturers are looking for ways to secure their supply chains.

ElementRe founders Puja Jain and Sunil Raghav want to capitalise on this opportunity by enabling a circular battery ecosystem. They want to reduce waste, make supply chains greener, create green technology-focused jobs and produce recycled battery inputs to close the loop. With their extensive knowledge of battery chemistry and ecosystems, they founded ElementRe Technologies Pvt Ltd to use technology responsibly and sustainably to enable circularity in the battery ecosystem.

With nearly 40 years of collective experience in the energy and chemical industries in India and USA, our founders have turned their knowledge into action. ElementRe has developed a proprietary low-capex modular plant design and research-backed sustainable technology that allows it to scale up fast while focusing on essential, high-value refining processes.
